I have tried many different painting styles throughout my life. I find myself going back to the familiar – art on canvas. Drawing it out on the canvas, adding a bit of paint and finishing it by applying heavy textures and possibly some fabric, ridiculous trinket, or a silly patch that makes me smile. When I’m painting more abstract pieces I tend to have less of a plan. I adore surrealism along with the sciences and mathematical equations. I feel like I become a part of something I really don’t understand but would like to. When I do have a subject in mind my first plan is to think about it for a while. I still have hundreds of small ink designs on watercolor paper. I just can’t part with because I know there is something in there. Whatever happens no doubt there will be a lot of color, texture and a subject that will hopefully be thought-provoking and will make the viewer laugh or smile.
